As a goodwill gesture and logistic support towards forest and wildlife conservation, Wildlife Trust India (WTI) distributed relief items among flood hit families of Mer village in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.

The WTI has granted the relief aid under its Rapid Action Project (RAP) – emergency relief fund, which is applicable for fringe villages of wildlife sanctuary and national park.

The relief items comprised rice, fodder and livestock medicines.

Earlier too, the WTI officials with the help of Forest department officials distributed such relief items among the flood hit areas of Mebo sub-division in the district.

Attending the WTI relief distribution programme at Mer village, Pasighat DFO (T) Tashi Mize said the natural calamities are caused by large scale deforestation and destruction of natural resources by human interference.

He asked the local villagers to conserve flora and fauna and stop destruction of natural vegetations in the name of urbanization and extension of human habitation.

The villagers including Gaon Burahs have expressed their gratitude to WTI for their logistic support rehabilitation of the flood hit families and conservation of forest in the area.
