A 10-minute cyclonic storm hit East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday afternoon, disrupting power supply in the district.

Executive engineer of Pasighat Power Division, Tarik Mize said the department bore the brunt of the storm at about 12:30 pm that uprooted trees and damaged power installations at several locations.

The entire district was affected although a detailed report about the extent of damage was awaited.

Mize, who supervised the restoration work on the ground, said that prompt action and untiring efforts of the department helped restore power supply in the Pasighat and Ruksin areas immediately on Monday evening.

By Tuesday evening, the department could restore electricity in Motum, Berung, Kiyit, Ayeng, Mebo, Abor-country, Bodak, Romdun, Darne, Sika-Tode, Runne to Kora including Yagrung and Bilat circles. Restoration works at Serum, Kongkul, Siluk, Aohali, Mer Gadum, Namsing and Borguli would continue on Wednesday, Mize said.
