East Kameng deputy commissioner Gaurav Singh Rajawat on Sunday launched Rashtriya Poshan Maah under POSHAN Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) for the district in Arunachal Pradesh.
The programme was launched from the Nyari Welly Model Village Anganwadi Centre near Seppa.

POSHAN Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) is India’s flagship programme, launched in March 2018 to improve nutritional status of children up to 6 years, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
It is aimed at achieving specific targets for reduction in low birth weight babies, stunting growth, under nutrition and prevalence of anemia over next three years.

Rashtriya Poshan Maah will be celebrated in the month of September this year.
Before launching the programme, Rajawat briefed the gathering about the aims and objectives of the mission.
Informing that the district is faring poor in nutritional aspects, the DC exhorted the anganwadi workers to go the extra mile to bring the benefits of the programme at the doorsteps of every beneficiary.
“A healthy body begets a healthy mind, and a healthy mind begets a healthy society,” he said and further urged them to shoulder their responsibility in saving the future generation of the district.
ICDS deputy director W Thungon and DVBDCO Dr A Rimo also spoke on the occasion.
A tree sapling was also planted by the deputy commissioner at the anganwadi centre to mark the day.
Officers and officials from the women and child development department, heads of departments, representatives of NGOs, gaon buras and the locals witnessed the launching programme.
Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Rajawat on the day also launched the Electors Verification Programme for the district.
The initiative, launched at all levels from state and union territory headquarters, to districts and a million polling stations, aims to provide better electoral services, improve communication between voters and the Commission, and the overall health of electoral rolls in general.
The programme will end on September 15.
Launching the programme, Rajawat who is also the district election officer, briefed the gathering about the aims and objectives of the drive and urged them become an army of messengers in disseminating the benefits of the same to all.
