The West Siang district administration on Tuesday organized a training programme for the youths of the district interested in taking part in the upcoming Arunachal Pradesh Entrepreneurship Challenge-2020.
An initiative of the state’s department of planning, finance and investment, the Arunachal Pradesh Entrepreneurship Challenge is the state’s biggest hunt for identifying promising startups and entrepreneurs.
Addressing the youths during the training, West Siang additional deputy commissioner, Liyi Bagra said the Entrepreneurship Challenge is a rare opportunity for the businessmen, artisans and unemployed youths of the district to showcase their innovative business ideas, plans and skills.
“This will not only help you (youths) to bring in cash for your ventures but it would also give the selected ones and opportunity to undergo an intense training programme on skill development. This will further help you establish your own businesses in the future,” Bagra said.
Exhorting the trainees to take a keen interest in opportunity coming their way, he advised all to present their best plans.
West Siang district planning officer, Marjum Karga disclosed that the ambitious project is conceived by the state’s government in collaboration with IIM, Kolkata Innovation Park and it aims at promoting the idea of making the youths ‘job givers’ and not ‘job seekers’.
District information officer, K Wangmo presented a detailed power-point presentation on the Entrepreneurship Challenge and the procedures to participate in it.
The Arunachal Pradesh Entrepreneurship Challenge aims to identify, promote, support, and nurture sustainable and locally relevant business ideas and entrepreneurs.
The top 10 entrepreneurs of the Challenge would be awarded seed money of up to Rs 5 lakh to start their venture while the next 40 would get seed money of up to Rs 4 lakh.

The last date to apply for the same is September 30.
