The All East Siang District Students’ Union (AESDSU) has reiterated its demand to hand over the murder case of late Ojing Taying to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Late Taying, a former finance secretary of the AESDSU, was brutally attacked by some unidentified miscreants here on the fateful night of June 10 last year. He unfortunately succumbed to his injuries a few days after the attack at the GNRC Hospital in Guwahati.

The case, which was earlier taken up by the police in Itanagar, was handed over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on April 27 last year.

Welcoming the decision taken by the State Government to hand over the case of late Toko Yame to the CBI, the AESDSU at the same has questioned the Government why it was “reluctant” to hand over the case of late Taying to the Central investigation agency.

“Many rallies and dharnas have been conducted; however, the State’s Home Department has paid no heed to our prayers. Accordingly, we have no other options other than to doubt the integrity and potentiality of the State’s Police Department. We also feel that the department itself is shielding the culprits involved,” the union stated in its representation submitted to the Chief Minister’s Office on Wednesday.

“With no other options left, we are bound to take extreme actions like calling a ‘bandh’ and we have decided to call a series of bandhs until justice is delivered to the deceased and his family or the case is transferred to CBI,” the AESDSU added.

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal East constituency Ninong Ering on Tuesday called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and requested the latter for a CBI inquiry into the murder case.

During the meeting, the MP also inquired about Naga peace accord from him and requested to make the details public, as the accord also concerns the people from Arunachal Pradesh.
