Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Thursday inaugurated the district library office at Aalo in West Siang district. The construction of the said building was executed by the rural works department, stated an official press communique.
Addressing a function, Rijiju said, “Library should act as a platform where all categories of people should come and read the treasure troves of books ranging right from comics, anecdotes, daily newspapers and that of great writers, poets and litterateurs free of cost.”

“It is important to inculcate the habit of reading among the younger generation and start library movements and awareness in circles and sub-divisions of the district,” Rijiju said.
Responding to a memorandum submitted by district library and information officer (DLIO) Minam Darang pertaining to procurement of books, racks, computers, construction of sub-divisional level library at Kamba and Darak circles etc, the union minister assured to look into it and asked the department concerned to send the proposal through the Library and Research minister.
Assistant Director of Library, Yayum Riba and DLIO (headquarters) Yajap Kena who came all the way from Itanagar to oversee the inaugural ceremony also narrated the problems face by the department.

They also spoke about the awareness programmes initiated by the department to disseminate information on the importance of reading habits, the release added.
Tax and Excise minister Jarkar Gamlin, deputy speaker Tumke Bagra and Liromoba MLA Nyamar Karbak were also present at thee event.
