The Indian Army and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) personnel had a meeting on the Chinese side at Bum La on Wednesday.
The border personnel meeting (BPM) was conducted by the PLA.

“The border personnel meeting was marked by unfurling of both the national flags followed by formal address by the delegation leaders and discussion on various issues to enhance the existing mutual trust and bonhomie between world’s two largest armies,” stated Guwahati-based defence PRO, Lt Col P. Khongsai.
“The mutual desire to enhance cooperation and cordial relations was evident from the conducive environment that prevailed during the proceedings,” added Lt Col Khongsai.
The border personnel meeting between Indian Army and PLA continues to be held on October 3 every year since the signing of the border peace and tranquility agreement between both the nations on September 7, 1993.

“In last 26 years, the BPM mechanism has evolved into a vital platform for resolving local issues and fostering mutual confidence amongst the border guarding troops of both the countries,” the defence PRO stated.
Sharing a few images of the border personnel meeting at Bum La, the Eastern Command of the Indian Army on its Twitter handle stated: “Border Personnel Meeting between PLA & Indian Army was hosted on Chinese side at Bum La on 30 Oct.”
“The delegation of both sides interacted in an environment of mutual trust and cordiality to maintain peace & tranquility along the LAC,” it added.

Bum La Pass is located about 37 km away from Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh at the Indo-China border.
It is located above 15,200 ft above the sea level.
