The Northeast Agri Fair is scheduled to kick off at the College of Horticulture and Forestry (CHF) ground in Pasighat, the district headquarters of East Siang district, from Monday.
Speaking on the importance of the mega agri fair, the dean of College of Horticulture and Forestry, Dr BN Hazarika informed that hundreds of farmers from not only the state but also across the northeastern region will take part in the event.
The event aims to facilitate the farmers and self help groups of Arunachal Pradesh and the northeastern region a platform to display and sell their agri products and also learn from their counterparts.
“I appeal all the interested farmers and public of the region to visit and witness the Agri Fair,” said BN Hazarika.
Hazarika also said that they are working day and night to make the event a success.
Sponsored by the ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare and organized by the Central Agricultural University, Imphal in Manipur, the theme of the fair is “Ecosystem approach for Sustainable Agriculture”.
State Legislative Assembly speaker PD Sona is expected to inaugurate the three-day fair, which will end on November 13.
Situated at the eastern foothills of the Himalayas at 155 metre above the mean sea level, Pasighat is one of the oldest towns of Arunachal Pradesh.
The government of India included Pasighat in the Smart Cities Mission development scheme in June, 2017.
It was founded in 1911 A.D. by the British as a gateway to administrative convenience of the greater Abor Hills and the north area in general.
