Meghalaya Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh visits Arunachal Pradesh State Legislative Assembly Secretariat

Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh at Arunachal Pradesh State Legislative Assembly Secretariat in Itanagar.

Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh, who is on a two-day tour of Arunachal Pradesh, paid an official visit to the Arunachal Pradesh State Legislative Assembly Secretariat in Itanagar on Friday.

Lyngdoh along with his team of officers are in Itanagar, the state capital, to gather first-hand information about the National e-Vidhan (NeVA) project.

National e-Vidhan is a device-neutral and member-centric application created to equip the handler with information regarding the Assembly.

The Arunachal Pradesh Assembly is the first in the Northeast and third in the country to have successfully implemented the ambitious project.

With the help of the application, the members can use their tablets/laptops to see the list of business and read questions and other documents pertaining to House proceedings.

The ministry of parliamentary affairs is the nodal ministry for the project.

During the visit, Lyngdoh and his Arunachal Pradesh counterpart PD Sona discussed at length about NeVA and issues pertaining to regional cooperation.

Sona, during the interaction, said the whole idea of NeVA project was not only to make all functions of the Assembly paperless, but also to save time, money and energy.

Lauding Sona and his team for successfully implementing the project, Lyngdoh sought necessary guidance/assistance for the project’s implementation in Meghalaya.

The Meghalaya Assembly is also planning to bring in the project, he said while adding that the permanent building of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly is likely to be completed soon.

Both the Speakers accompanied by the officials later took a tour of the Assembly Complex and visited Nokmey Namati Hall, Library, Dorjee Khandu Auditorium, NeVA Centre and the main Assembly Hall.
