KVIC aims to turn Arunachal village into Khadi tourism hub

With an aim to develop Chullyu village in Arunachal Pradesh as a Khadi tourism destination, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) would soon start a spinning and weaving centre in the village.

In a statement, the KVIC said that in a meeting with Governor Brig (Retd), KVIC decided to create job opportunities on a mission mode in Arunachal Pradesh.

The meeting was also attended by Arunachal Pradesh agricultural minister Tage Taki and Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar.

The KVIC further said in the statement that the centre will start operation with 25 spinning wheels and five looms and provide direct employment to 35 women.

“As Chullyu, which located at the foothills of the Himalayas, has the potential of producing premium quality honey and the Khadi centre will also generate a sustainable source of income for the locals,” the statement added.

It further added that bee-keeping activities in Chullyu will start by providing 200 bee-boxes to 20 farmers after training.
