Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday took part in plogging run, in which he was joined by many local boys and girls.

Taking part in the run, Rijiju tweeted, “We started #PloggingRun very early morning at 5.30 AM till 6.20 AM. I enjoyed the productive moment with these amazing young boys and girls! You can do #PloggingRun on 2nd Oct within your localities.”

“The #FitIndiaMovement must be a people’s movement to make India FIT & CLEAN! https://pic.twitter.com/DsCkZpn7tF,” the tweet added.

The run was organised to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2.

Plogging involves picking up plastic and other waste from the surroundings while jogging.

The run, therefore, has a two-pronged effect – Swasth and Swacchta meaning staying fit while keeping the country clean.

The Fit India Plog Run is part of the Fit India Movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 29.

On Thursday, the union minister posted a video on his twitter account, in which he is seen cycling on Delhi roads and appealing the citizens to take part in plogging run.

Speaking in the video Rijiju says, “Our Honourable Prime Minister‘s vision for the Fit India Movement is to turn it into a people’s movement so I urge all of you to participate in this in large numbers Kyunki Hum Fit Toh India Fit.”
