The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Saturday alleged that the BJP-led state government, particularly Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Union MoS for Home, Kiren Rijiju were wooing the innocent public by making false assurances and declarations.

As per the Congress, the announcements allegedly made by Khandu and Rijiju during the inauguration function of Pakke-Kessang district on Friday in Lemmi were all lies and ones made to gain political favor and support.

“It was disappointing to witness that Chief Minister Khandu, being the head of State is disorienting the public and disseminating wrong information on schemes like Chief Minister’s Aroyagya Arunahal Yojna (CMAAY). If he (Khandu) is talking about the CMAAY, then he should also deliver correct information on Chief Minister Universal Health Insurance Scheme (CMUHIS) which has covered more than 3 lakh of the state’s population and benefitted thousands with cashless treatment in short span of time,” APCC spokesperson Mina Toko said in a statement.

The BJP government does not have patent on the health insurance scheme as it has only replaced the erstwhile CMUHIS conceived by former chief minister Nabam Tuki with CMAAY to support the aggrieved population. The CMAAY has very few hospitals empanelled under it and most of the population is unaware of them. Whereas CMUHIS was empanelled with more than 25 hospitals and those which were popularly known to the people and had all the modern facilities, Mina said.

The Congress also slammed Khandu on his alleged claim that the Union Ministers had visited Arunachal 50 times when Congress was in power and more than 130 times when BJP came at the helm of affairs in 2014.

The APCC also took a dig at MoS Rijiju for him allegedly taking credit of developments which were actually brought by the Congress in the State.

“The frontier highway and industrial corridor projects were coined by the Congress which was later copied and included in his 2014 election agenda by Rijiju. There is in fact no industry growing in Arunachal Pradesh and the BJP government has also scammed the highway project and engulfed crores of money,” the Congress said.
