Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu has appealed to the people dwelling at inter-State boundary areas to maintain cordial relation with the people of Assam counterpart.

He laid stress on communal harmony for peaceful coexistence among the residents of both the neighbooring States.

Khandu made this appeal while attending the inaugural programme of Banggo Solung Festival celebration at Ruksin in East Siang district of Arunachal bordering Assam on Tuesday.

He urged the people to cherish a sense of brotherhood towards the people of Assam and maintain social and cultural relation with them.

Chief Minister Khandu said the people of Arunachal have been maintaining good relation with the residents of Assam counterpart for the last several decades. He also said that the age-old relation between the neighbouring States should not be derailed at any cost.

“I appeal to the people dwelling at both sides to treat each other with a sense of brotherhood because they would be living together for the days to come. Any group clash or minor disputes at the boundary area should be solved in an amicable way rather than giving it a communal colour,” Khandu said, while urging the officers and leaders of both states to play a vital role in prevention of communal tension at boundary area.

Khandu claimed that his Government has changed the parameter of the State’s development in the last two years, recalled that many difficult tasks have been achieved by his Government during their regime. Right from completion of state-of-art Secretariat building in State capital, establishment of Tomo Riba Medical College and Smart City projects, the State Government has seemingly taken the State’s economy to a few steps ahead, he asserted.

Saying that the Adi tribe has rich traditional cultures, Chief Minister Khandu urged the community people to preserve their language/dialect and traditional customs through festive celebrations. He also urged the Adi youths to shoulder the responsibility to preserve their ancestral cultures to keep their ethnic identity intact.

Khandu earlier inaugurated a PMGSY road with 50 metre-long RCC bridge linking Remi and Miglung village in Pasighat West area. He also inaugurated State’s first Sainik School at Niglok and newly-built Guest House at Ruksin town, which was built by Pasighat division of Rural Works Department at a cost of Rs 1.76 crore.

Among others, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, State BJP President Tapir Gao and local MLA Tatung Jamoh, organizing committee president Tonggeng Panyang also spoke on the occasion.

Chief Minister Khandu was accompanied by his adviser (Mebo MLA) Lombo Tayeng, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Education Minister Honchun Ngandam, Health Minister Alo Libang, East Arunachal MP Ninong Ering and a host of Arunachal MLAs.
