Bihar chief minister and Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar has asked the newly-elected legislators of the party in Arunachal Pradesh to support the ruling BJP government led by chief minister Pema Khandu.
This was disclosed at a meeting of the state unit of the JD(U) in a hotel at Itanagar on Friday.

Addressing media persons later, JD(U) legislature party leader Techi Kaso said that the party, after receiving a letter from Kumar, has decided to provide outside support to the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre as well as the one in the state.
“We will be supporting the state BJP government from outside with no conditions and demands. Our support follows the order received from the central head of JD(U),” he said.
JD(U) spokesperson Hayeng Mangfi said that although the party has not officially submitted any letter regarding outside support, the party and its legislators will be supporting the BJP government’s policies and programmes that benefit the common people.

“The BJP in the state had repeatedly turned down any pre-election alliance with NPP, PPA or JD(U). It is now up to the BJP to accept or reject any alliance now,” he said.
“Being elected as a JD(U) leader, I have my constitutional privileges to look after my people which can’t be denied by any political party,” he said, adding that neither he or the other MLAs would be demanding more than that.
“We are just informing the BJP of our support in the state as our party is supporting the NDA government at the Centre,” Mangfi said.
