Bihar’s ruling party Janta Dal (United) is going to field 15 candidates in the forthcoming Assembly polls in Arunachal Pradesh. Lok Sabha polls and Assembly polls are going to be held simultaneously in Arunachal Pradesh in a single phase on April 11 next.
JD (U) national general secretary Afaque Ahmad Khan gave this piece of information on while adding that the national election committee of the party and the state leadership arrived at the decision after scrutinising the application of the candidates.
“We are giving party tickets to only those who fit the bill to contest in the ongoing general elections. Prominent amongst them include two sitting MLAs Techi Kaso, MLA of Itanagar (ST), and Dikto Yekar, MLA of Daporijo (ST) constituency,” said Senchumo NSN Lotha, chairman of the party’s Northeast election committee.
Former legislators and other distinguished former students leaders and eminent public leaders are also amongst the party candidates. The party is also fielding a lone woman candidate Padmeshwari Jomoh from Lekang constituency and is “hopeful” that all the JD (U) candidates will win and the party will be able to “put up a good show”.
