Budding weightlifters of Arunachal Pradesh continued to shine on day two of the first edition of Khelo India Youth Games as they added three more medals to State’s kitty on Thursday.
The competition is currently underway in Pune of Maharashtra.
Participating in the U-17 boy’s 67 and 61 kg weight category respectively, Markio Tario and Charu Pesi won a silver each for the State while Techi Nadam won bronze in the U-21 girl’s 45 kg category.
Markio lifted a total of 246 kg (104 kg in snatch and 142 kg in clean and jerk) for his silver while Charu lifted 227 kg (97 kg in snatch and 130 kg in clean and jerk) for his medal.
Meanwhile, a total lift of 129 kg (56 kg in snatch and 73kg in clean and jerk) earned Nadam a bronze.
Team Arunachal, on the day also won a silver and bronze medal in Judo through Kabi Doyom (48 kg) and Khomdan Wanghop (50kg) respectively.
Besides, Judo and weightlifting, State’s ace shuttler in the under-17 category, Laa Takum has moved to the second round of the competition after defeating his rival from Maharashtra in straight sets of 21-19 and 22-20.
The total medal tally of Arunachal in the Youth Games has moved up to seven as weightlifters Sandiya Gungli and Golom Tinku had won bronze in the competition on Wednesday.
Khelo India Youth Games, held annually in January or February, are the national level multidisciplinary grassroots games in India held for two categories, namely under-17 year’s school students and under-21 college students.
