“Dekho Apna Pradesh” campaign to boost Arunachal Pradesh’ tourism

Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu on Monday flagged off the ‘Dekho Apna Pradesh” campaign to revive the state’s ailing tourism sector.

Khandu flagged off the state tourism department’s initiative during a ceremony held at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre at Itanagar.

The state’s tourism sector has been hard hit by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Khandu on the occasion urged all stakeholders and local people to join hands in promoting the various tourist hotspots of the state.

“The local people should also visit different parts of the state to provide a boost to the tourism sector. Arunachal has immense tourism potential, which should be developed by all means,” said Khandu.

He also urged the stakeholders to have good knowledge about the history and geographical significance of Arunachal Pradesh so that they can guide their tourists well.

“Flagged-off #DekhoApnaPradesh today to kickstart tourism in Arunachal affected by #COVID19. Participants will dive deep into different cultures and natural landscapes of state. The move is aimed at encouraging people to travel within the state letting them know their state better,” tweeted Pema Khandu.

As part of the  ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ campaign, 60 participants divided in three groups would embark on a 10-day journey to different tourist places in western, eastern and central Arunachal to know about the local culture, food habits and tourism prospects.

The Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operators Association (APTOA) would guide the three groups during their journey to various places in the state.

The state tourism department will finance the tours of the participants.

The department will also incorporate the suggestions of the participants regarding various issues in its different programmes to promote the tourism sector.
