In a significant development, the NHPC Limited has provided cold chain equipment to Arunachal Pradesh government under Corporate Social Responsibility for the Covid19 vaccination programme .

A total of 25 Ice lined refrigerators were handed over to Dr E Rumi, state director of family welfare on Friday.

Prior to this, 13 Deep Freezers were handed over to the Arunachal Pradesh government last week.

The cold chain equipment has been provided at a cost of Rs 29.7 Lakh.

Meanwhile, the Union health ministry has asked the Assam government to implement strong containment measures to contain the spread of Covid19 infection.

Luv Aggrawal, joint secretary in the health ministry said along with Assam, states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Puducherry have been reporting a daily surge in Covid19 cases.

He, however, informed that from 85% of active cases on April 15, it has now come down to 15.1% as of Saturday.

Aggrawal said although the number of daily new cases has been decreasing, the number of daily new deaths has been witnessing a minimal increase.

The Union health ministry statistics said there are 11 states which are witnessing more than 1 lakh active cases and 8 states are witnessing active cases in between 50,000 to 1 lakh.

According to the statistics, there are 24 states with more than 15% positivity.

States like Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh among others have been witnessing decrease in daily Covid cases.
