A Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) on the occasion of Chinese National Day was organized by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at Bumla in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district on Sunday. Bumla is around 463 kms from here.
To facilitate cooperation and peace at the disputed border through consultation and interaction, the armies of both countries, the Indian Army and China’s PLA, hold meetings along the disputed Sino-Indian border called Border Personnel Meetings.

While border meetings have been held since the 1990s, the first formal Border Personnel Meeting point was established in 2013.
There are five meeting points, two in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, one in Sikkim, and two in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Indian delegation in Monday’s meeting was led by Brigadier Zubin Bhatnagar, Commander of Tawang Brigade from while Senior Colonel Yao Shi Chen of Tsona Dzong Garrison led the Chinese army.

The meeting was marked by unfurling the National flags of India and China and the same was followed by formal address by both the delegation leaders.
The Chinese army also presented a colourful cultural programme during the function.
The entire proceedings reflected increasing mutual desire of maintaining and improving relations at the border in consonance with the desire of both national leaders, army said in a statement.
Member of both the delegations also interacted with each other in a congenial and cordial environment.
The delegations parted amidst feeling of friendship and commitment towards enhancing the existing cordial relations and maintaining peace along the Line of Actual Control.
