The West Kameng police have seized around 610 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) from the possession of one Sang Jamtso in the Khalaktang sub-division of West Kameng district.

Jamtso was intercepted by the police between the Balemu and Ankaling route of Khalaktang on May 30.

This was informed by the Special SIT superintendent of police, Arunachal Pradesh, Navdeep Singh Brar on Monday.

“During interrogation, Jamtso revealed that he had collected the cannabis from one Tsong Jaipu of Waizer village of Khalaktang and they were planning to sell the same in Assam,” Brar said.

“Both Jamtso and Jipu have been arrested and investigation on to identify the other persons involved in the network,” the SP said.

The West Kameng police, led by its SP Raja Banthia have in the past two months arrested 9 peddlers from several places of the district.

The district’s police have also established an anti-narcotics squad to tackle the menace of drugs in the region.
