Urban Development and Home Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Kumar Waii, on Thursday graced the national convention held on the topic ‘Strong and Secured Border: A way to secure a cultured and developed nation’ at the Kalawangpo Convention Hall here.
The convention was conducted by the Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch (BTSM).
Speaking on the occasion, Waii said that the present State and Union Government has been giving lot of focus to the border regions and has accordingly undertaken several developmental initiatives for the same.
“The national media should come to these border areas and cover the hardships being faced by the people living in these areas. In spite of such hardships, the people of Arunachal never fail to show their patriotism and commitment towards Mother India,” the minister said.
Taking opportunity Waii also said that the government must provide good facilities to the Brokpa community (The Yak and Sheep Grazers) as they have been protecting the borders in Arunachal since time immemorial by continuously moving from one area to another.
Earlier in the day, more than 375 pilgrims from around twenty different states of the country led by BTSM president Indresh Kumar participated in a peace march from Tawang monastery to Kalawangpo Convention Hall.
Among others, Karma Yeshi, minister of finance for Tibetan government in exile, former MP R K Khrimey, former ministers Tsering Gyurmey, D K Thongdok and Naresh Glow participated in the convention.
