Arunachal Pradesh‘s karate champion Nobin Jomoh, who has been selected for the 2018 Commonwealth Karate Championship to be held at Durban in South Africa on November 28, met State Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday.

Informing this on his Twitter handle on Friday, Chief Minister Khandu expressed his best wishes for the karate player and his coach.

Chief Minister Khandu stated: “Was happy to meet Shri Nobin Jomoh and Shri Bulang Marik of Arunachal Pradesh Police today who will be competing in the 2018 Commonwealth Karate Championship to be held in South Africa in Nov 28. My best wishes to both of them!”

As per a report published on Friday by Arunachal24.in stated during his meeting with karate champion Nobin and his coach Bulang Marik, Chief Minister Khandu said he was happy to know that Jomoh is the first senior Commonwealth Karate medalist from the Northeast held in 2013 at Montreal Canada and an Asian silver medalist in 2015 in Malaysia.

It has been reported that currently, Jomoh is serving as an Inspector in Arunachal Pradesh Police and has won 5 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals in various international events and won 19 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze medals at national events so far.

According to the report, Jomoh, who is a qualified international karate coach licence holder, has represented India in several world championships held in countries like Germany, several European countries, Singapore, Malaysia, UAE, Turkey and Indonesia.

The Arunachal CM while congratulating both Jomoh and Marik for their achievements assured of every help in their endeavour towards promoting the sports in Arunachal.

The CM also reportedly expressed happiness that karate players from Arunachal Pradesh have performed brilliantly in the recently held Northeast Olympic Games in Imphal where they won 9 gold and 1 bronze medals.
