Arunachal Pradesh on Monday scripted a new chapter in the State’s football history as three women footballers from the State made their maiden appearance in the national soccer landscape.
Nabam Kamyi, Roshni Ramching, and Tamchi Yapi of Arunachal Pradesh, who have signed up for Pune based FC Kolhapur City, took to the soccer turf in the Indian Women’s League qualifier in Mumbai on Monday, also heralding a new era for women’s football in the State.
FC Kolhapur City played their opening match against Kenkre FC, which ended in 1-1 draw.
Kamyi drew the attention of both the selectors and spectators with her assist in scoring a goal for her team.
Kolhapur City will play their next match against Football Leader Academy on November 24 next.
Meanwhile, jubilation writ large on the football fraternity of the State, even as Arunachal Pradesh Football Association secretary Kipa Ajay, Capital Complex Football Club chairman Kipa Takum, and coach Kipa Bharat spent no time in extending congratulatory notes to the three footballers on their achievement.
They were of the opinion that the exposure and experience gathered by Kamyi, Roshni, and Yapi would come in handy for the development of football in Arunachal Pradesh, particularly women football.
