The Arunachal Pradesh government on Friday announced to levy a โ€˜cessโ€™ of 25 percent on the maximum retail price of all alcoholic beverages including Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) effective Saturday midnight.

The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting on Friday chaired by chief minister Pema Khandu.

Khandu who took to the twitter to announce the same wrote, โ€œTo augment States own Resources and to generate much needed revenue, State Cabinet decided to levy a โ€˜Cessโ€™ of 25% on MRP of all Alcoholic Beverages including IMFL, Beer, Imported Alcoholic Beverages & Wine etc. wef 00:01 AM of 09.05.2020.โ€

The state government had on May 04 levied a cess of 10 percent on wholesale prices (inclusive of VAT) of IMFL and beer was on effect since May 05.
