ITANAGAR: Tensions gripped Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday (March 28) during the scrutiny process of nomination papers of assembly elections candidates.

Clashes erupted at the office of the deputy commissioner of Longding district in Arunachal Pradesh after the returning officer rejected a candidate’s nomination from the Pongchau-Wakka assembly constituency.

Amidst the chaos, superintendent of police (SP) of Longding district in Arunachal Pradesh Dekio Gumja sustained injuries, leading the police to use blank fire to scatter the agitated crowd.

Approximately 40 rounds were fired before the situation was restored to normalcy.

Meanwhile, an investigation into the incident has been launched.
