Guwahati: To enhance the hydroelectric power capacity of Arunachal Pradesh, the 6th Steering Committee Meeting was held on September 3, 2024, at the Chief Minister’s Residential Office in Itanagar.
The meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Pema Khandu brought together key stakeholders to review and monitor the progress of 13 hydroelectric projects allotted to various Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs).

The projects, spread across various districts of Arunachal Pradesh, aim to harness the state’s vast hydroelectric potential.
The CPSUs involved include NHPC Limited, NEEPCO Limited, SJVN Limited, and THDC Limited. The meeting focused on resolving critical issues faced by these projects, ensuring their timely completion.
Pema Khandu assured the meeting of the state government’s full support and cooperation in fast-tracking the projects.

The 13 hydroelectric projects, with a combined capacity of over 10,000 MW, are expected to significantly contribute to the region’s energy security and economic development.
A project included five from NEEPCO on the Siyom River, with a total capacity of 2626 MW.
Along with this, SJVN’s five projects on the Dibang River tributaries, with a total capacity of 5097 MW, NHPC’s two projects on the Subansiri River and its tributary, with a total capacity of 3800 MW and THDCIL’s 1200 MW project on the Lohit River were part of the discussion.
