Arunachal reports 19 new COVID19 cases, state tally rises to 359

Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday registered 19 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 359.

The health department of Arunachal Pradesh while sharing the state’s latest update on COVID19, tweeted on Sunday night: “19 new COVID-19 detected today.”

Out of the new cases, 11 positive cases have been detected in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR), 7 cases have been detected in Changlang district and 1 case has been reported from the Namsai district.

All except 1, all other cases are asymptomatic and the infected patients have been shifted to the Covid Care Centre (CCC) and Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) at Naharlagun in Papum Pare district, the health department said.

Meanwhile, 13 other patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged after their recovery.

While 7 COVID19 patients have been discharged from ICR, 4 others have been discharged from West Kameng and 2 patients have been discharged from Changlang.

All the discharged patients have been advised to undergo strict 14-day home quarantine.

Dr. L. Jampa, state surveillance officer (IDSP), directorate of health services, Arunachal Pradesh, informed that of the 7 positive cases reported from Changlang, 5 are returnees from Uttar Pradesh and 2 are returnees from Tamil Nadu.

The positive patient reported from Namsai is a returnee from Tamil Nadu and the case was confirmed as COVID19 in the quarantine facility.

Dr. Jampa said of the 6 positive cases detected in Itanagar Capital Complex, 2 are are from E-Sector, 1 from C-Sector, 1 from Dokum colony, 1 from Popu-NaIlah in Naharlagun and 1 is from near Hotel Donyi Polo Ashoka in Itanagar.

Of the two positive cases in ICC detected from Naharlagun are primary contacts of the previously detected positive health care worker, said Dr. Jampa.

He also informed that of the 3 cases detected are health care workers including 2 from UPHC, Itanagar and 1 from TRIHMS.

He also informed that 1 case from ICC is symptomatic and the rest are all asymptomatic.

The deadly disease has so claimed the lives of two persons.
