Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh has conferred with “State Democracy Award” for holding ‘fairest’ elections in the state. 

Longding district was conferred with the award for “holding assembly and panchayat polls in 2019 in the most free and fair manner”. 

Meanwhile, Nafra in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh was given the Best Performing Sub-Division award. 

The awards were given away by Arunachal Pradesh Governor – Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra on Wednesday on the occasion of International Democracy Day.

Governor Mishra said that the International Democracy Day is aimed at promoting government’s role in maintaining transparent democracy among member nations of the UN charter. 

Mishra also complimented the State Election Commission (SEC) for holding free, fair and transparent elections.
