Several members of AEDSU took out a protest rally in Pasighat town.

All East Siang District Students Union (AESDSU) in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday observed the day as ‘Black Day’ protesting the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) passed by the central government in 2019.

The Union Cabinet passed the contentious Act by numerical strength defying massive public protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Several members of AEDSU and other student unions under the banner of North East Students’ Organization (NESO) took out a protest rally in Pasighat town.

The protesters say that the new citizenship Act would severely affect age-old unity and peace among indigenous Arunachali people and also demolish traditional practices of the ethnic tribes of the hilly state.

The protesters during the procession shouted slogans against the BJP-led central government and demanded to repeal the contentious Act.
