The Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) has called upon the state government to exempt government teachers of Classes X and XII from election duties.

The CoSAAP, in a representation to the chief secretary on Saturday, said the engagement of teachers of Classes X and XII in election duties would hamper the studies of the students and the same would result in them performing poorly in the CBSE-2021 examinations.

“The Classes of X and XII have just begun from November 16 after it was suspended in view of the Covid-19 pandemic,” the CoSAAP said in its representation.

“In the meantime, the state election commission (SEC) has notified that the panchayat and municipal polls would be simultaneously held in the state on December 22.”

“If the teachers of Classes X and XII are engaged in the said elections, the classes of the students will be badly hampered,” the CoSAAP added.
