Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Mayor Tame Phassang said that sanitisation work will continue at the micro-level in all the wards under IMC to fight against COVID-19.

Besides, the corporators and ward committee members will extend support to the administration and the Health department in ensuring COVID appropriate behaviour, he said.

Phassang told reporters that all the corporators have been advised to coordinate with the administration and Heath team to identify the locations where COVID cases have been detected and to categorise such areas at the micro-level for containing the spread of the virus.

“Our fight is against the virus, not the people. So, without discriminating we all should stand together at this hour and follow all the SOPs strictly,” the mayor said.

“Team IMC has already sanitised public and government institutions such as police stations, hospitals, pharmacies, banks, and places of worship. We won’t stop here and will sanitise all sectors and colonies with the support of our corporators, ward members and committee members,” he said.

“Moreover, team IMC will help the Health department in conducting RAT and RT-PCR tests,” he added.

Reiterating his appeal to the public, Phassang said: “The cases in the state are increasing and 88 people have lost their lives till date. At least six cases of new double mutant COVID-19 virus were also found in the state, which is a matter of serious concern. Vaccination, maintaining SOPs and following the guidelines shared by the administration and Health department is the only way to contain this virus.”
