Arunachal Pradesh has set a target to recruit 2,000 local youths as soldiers during the 2018-19 fiscal to create employment opportunities, Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra said.

Mishra, during an interaction with reporters at Raj Bhawan on Sunday, said Army recruitments were underway for candidates of all eight north-east states.

“I have set a target to recruit 2,000 local youths as home-grown soldiers during 2018-19 fiscal to create employment opportunities for state youths, yield honourable income for needy families and prevent them from drug-gun culture,” he said.

Vacancies for 166 in general duty and 10 as trade’s men have been announced by the Army for recruitment from Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor added, reports The Economic Times.
