People on Saturday surrendered over 300 air guns as part of the “Air Gun Surrender Abhiyan” in Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh’s East Siang district.
Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu Pema Khandu launched the campaign in the East Sinag district during a programme organized by the state forest department at the Jawaharlal Nehru College in Pasighat.

Arunachal Pradesh environment and forest minister Mama Natung had launched the Air Gun Surrender Abhiyan in February this year to prevent the rampant killing of wild birds and animals in the state.
Due to this hunting, many species of birds and animals are on the verge of extinction.
Speaking on the occasion Khandu applauded the efforts and willingness of the locals in preserving the state’s bio-diversity by lending their support to the campaign.

Moreover, the chief minister also inaugurated two newly constructed blocks of the boys’ hostel of the Jawaharlal Nehru College.
He also inaugurated the administrative building of the newly instituted Arunachal Pradesh State University at Pasighat in the presence of Union minister of state for youth affairs and sports Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao.
