Two cadres of NSCN-R have been apprehended by a joint team of Assam Rifles and police from Nakang area in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district. 

The NSCN-R cadres have been identified as Wangphik Khosai (20) and Ngongpong Handique (30).  

The arrested cadres were allegedly involved in forceful extortion of money in Changlang and Tirap districts of Arunachal Pradesh. 

Sources claimed that the cadres were involved in extortion activities in Tirap and Changlang districts for the past one year.

“We received a secret information regarding the presence of the cadres and launched a joint operation and nabbed both the cadres. After interrogation, they were handed over to Changlang police,” informed a source. 

Meanwhile, security forces have launched an operation against insurgent groups to neutralize their threat. 

“We are doing regular patrolling and joint operation to curb the extortion activities in the Changlang and Tirap districts,” said an official. 

Earlier on Sunday, four Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) cadres were nabbed by security forces in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district.
