The Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) deputy commissioner Talo Potom convened an emergency meeting with all the corporators of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) at his office here on Friday to discuss measures that need to be taken to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the ICR.
Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso and IMC deputy mayor Biri Basang were also present in the sitting.

Potom said it was high time that the seriousness of the situation has to be realized by the people and Covid-19 appropriate behaviour has to be followed by all.
The DC also asked the cooperators to help the administration to meet the shortage of manpower as and when required.
Potom also sought constructive suggestions from the MLA and other participants of the meeting.

MLA Kaso said with the unprecedented surge in the Covid-19 cases, priority should be to the availability of ventilators and oxygen at Covid hospitals.
“We have to work together with a mission to make keep our capital safe from the virus,” he said.
Capital superintendent of police Jimmy Chiram said special focus is being put at all the entry points to check the ingress of people and on carrying out Covid-19 tests at the check gates.
The Capital police is all geared up to implement the night curfew in a proper manner and stressed that public cooperation is the need of the hour.

The ICR district administration has announced to impose a night curfew from May 1 from 9 pm to 5 am daily.
Perme also informed that oxygen plant and additional 164 more beds are going to be added to dedicated Covid Hospital in Chimpu at the earliest.
