Itanagar: The Indian Army and Assam Rifles carried out a joint helicopter-borne troop insertion exercise in the strategically important Vijaynagar salient in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, to assess rapid deployment capability and strengthen operational preparedness in remote, difficult terrain, a defence statement said on Saturday.

The forces conducted the exercise on Friday, inducting acclimatised troops swiftly into a simulated operational zone to test readiness for emerging security challenges, the statement added.

โ€œThe drill focused on speed, coordination and precision to ensure smooth execution under near-real conditions,โ€ Defence spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat said.

He said the exercise demonstrated the capability of the forces to deploy troops swiftly and effectively in challenging environments. โ€œThe participating troops displayed high levels of professionalism, adaptability and combat readiness throughout the exercise,โ€ he added.

The joint drill also enhanced coordination and interoperability between the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, strengthening their overall operational reach.

Lt Col Rawat further said such exercises remain crucial for refining standard operating procedures, boosting joint operational efficiency and reinforcing collective response mechanisms in strategically sensitive regions.
