Arunachal Pradesh: Employees of oil company leave drilling site at Innao following abduction of 2 colleagues

Employees engaged in the drilling site at Innao in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district of Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited left the site following rise in fear and apprehensions after two of their colleagues by rebels on December 21.

“Gripped by fear and uncertainty following the abduction of two of their colleagues from the Innao based drilling site of the company on December 21, other employees also left the site either for their respective homes or the Duliajan based office of the company, “ informed Deputy Commissioner of Changlang district Dr Devansh Yadav to Northeast Now.

Drilling superintendent PK Gogoi (51), a resident of Sivasagar town and a radio operator Ram Kumar (35), who hails from Bihar were kidnapped and made hostage by the rebels on December 21.

Both the abducted employees were engaged at the drilling site of Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited at Innao’s in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district.

The Changlang Deputy Commissioner further added, “Till the time hostages are safely rescued, it is natural that fear psychosis grips the other employees who are working in a remote area.”

According to a local residents living near the drilling site, “all the employees of the company engaged in various jobs in the Innao drilling site suddenly left the place together by boarding two Assam-bound buses earlier on Sunday morning.”

Meanwhile, various security agencies were pressed to trace the two abducted officials of the oil company along the vulnerable Assam-Arunachal Pradesh inter-state border areas.

A financial advisor of the oil company has reportedly initiated talks with the abductors in a bid to negotiate safe return of the two employees.
