Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu vowed to make a motorable road reach Tali, the headquarters of Kra Daadi district and remote Vijaynagar in Changlang district.

The announcement from Khandu came during his address at the state executive meeting of Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha (BJMM) in Namsai on Monday.

The chief minister, while referring to the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day “Choose to Challenge”, said one has to challenge themselves for change and betterment.

He said “had he not challenged himself to complete the blacktopping of Naharlagun-Itanagar four-lane road by March this year, the work would have kept pending for long.”

Khandu had in October last year announced that he would quit his post if the construction of the aforementioned stretch of road (expect the underpass and bridges) was not completed by March 31 this year.

The chief minister further called upon the BJMM karyakartas to imbibe the spirit of ‘nation first, party second, self last’.

BJP ideals make one work better for the society and the country, the chief minister said while addressing the state executive meeting of BJMM here.

Khandu said this year the budget has given special focus on women’s welfare and informed that Rs 313 crore has been allotted across 14 departments.

He encouraged the women to apply for a state government’ scheme on entrepreneurship where an additional 5% interest subsidy is provided to women entrepreneurs under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Swavalamban Yojana (DDUSY).

The chief minister further spoke on drug menace, polygamy and women’s right to parental property. He also spoke on the importance of training and said it is necessary to define and understand one’s role.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, BJP state general secretary and Namsai legislator Zingnu Namchoom and various other party dignitaries were present in the meeting.
