Arunachal Pradesh governor BD Mishra on Friday participated in a symbolic Dandi March in Niglok in East Siang district as part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, the country-wide celebration of 75 years of independence of India.
Several programmes were held across the state to mark the occasion.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav by flagging off a symbolic 386-km Dandi March from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad to Dandi in Navsari district of Gujarat.
The occasion also marked the 91st anniversary of the historic salt march led by Mahatma Gandhi in 1930.
The celebrations will continue till Independence day this year.
While the Arunachal government organized a photo exhibition on the Indian freedom struggle in Itanagar, school students in West Siang district took out a rally to celebrate the occasion.
Several young boys and girls also participated in a cycle rally organized in Lohit district to celebrate the occasion.
