ITANAGAR: Seven security personnel sustained injuries in a pre-poll violence incident in Arunachal Pradesh, where supporters of two candidates engaged in stone-pelting.

The incident occurred at Tenga and Kalaktang areas of the West Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh.

Authorities have initiated investigations into the matter, with police registering three cases at the Tenga and Kalaktang police stations in Arunachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence.

It may be mentioned here that the election commission of India (ECI) had earlier announced that elections for 60 seats in Arunachal Pradesh would take place on April 19.

Subsequently, the ECI rescheduled the date for counting of votes for assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh from June 4 to June 2.
