The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) has condemned the alleged brutal assault of an eight-year-old girl by one Lukbi Bojir, a teacher and his wife at Upper Siang recently. 

Appreciating the police for arresting the co-accused, the APSCW has at the same time requested the authorities concerned to apprehend the prime accused at the earliest and book them both under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

An eight-year-old child is presently undergoing treatment at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Naharlagun after she was allegedly assaulted by Bojir and his wife. 

The child who comes from an economically weak family was living with the couple since 2018 as they had promised her free education. 

The child was handed over to her parents on May 25 following which the incident came into light and an FIR was lodged at the Women Police Station here and later forwarded to the Seijosa police in Pakke Kessang district.

The Yinkgkiong police had on Sunday arrested Miti Lego, wife of the prime accused in connection with the case. The main accused is still on the run. 

The APSCW has meanwhile requested all the people of each society to cooperate and support the Police in the investigation, so that no child or women suffers in the future and justice can be delivered to the victims and their families.
