NSCN-K cadre arrested in Tirap

Dibrugarh: A hardcore cadre of the NSCN-K (AngMai) faction was arrested during a joint operation conducted by the Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police in Tirap district on Friday.

The arrested cadre has been identified as Longsom Losu alias Gangsa (32), a resident of Tirap district.

Following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of an underground operative in the area, a joint operation was launched, resulting in the apprehension of the cadre.

During the operation, a 7.65 mm pistol, a magazine, 10 live rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition, and a bag were recovered from his possession.

Officials said the operation was the result of coordination between the Assam Rifles and the district police and forms part of ongoing measures to counter insurgent activities in the region.

In recent times, security forces have arrested several cadres from various underground organisations.

โ€œCounter-insurgency operations against the rebel outfit have been going on in the region. We are taking all types of measures to contain insurgency in the region,โ€ said an official.
