NSCN (IM) cadre apprehend in Tirap

Dibrugarh: An active cadre of the NSCN (IM) was apprehended by the Assam Rifles in a joint operation with the Arunachal Pradesh Police in the general area of New Paniduria in Arunachal Pradeshโ€™s Tirap district on Sunday.

The apprehended individual was identified as Wangchan Wangsu, 31, a self-styled private of the NSCN (IM).

According to a press release issued by the IGAR (North), the operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs.

Security forces recovered one pistol, one magazine and five live rounds of .32 mm ammunition from his possession.

Other items recovered included Rs 5,450 in cash, three Aadhaar cards belonging to different individuals, one Voter ID card, a phone number list and a torchlight with charger, the release stated.

Wangsu, along with the recovered items, was handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation and necessary legal action.

The Assam Rifles said the operation demonstrated close coordination between the security force and the Arunachal Pradesh Police in countering insurgent activities and maintaining peace and security in Tirap district and the region.
