Arunachal Bordumsa polls
Out of the 23 Gram Panchayats under Bordumsa Block, NCP(A) secured a commanding majority, reaffirming its strong grassroots presence.

Bordumsa: The Arunachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Election, 2025, saw a sweeping victory for the Nationalist Congress Party (A) [NCP(A)] in the 14/1 Bordumsa Zilla Parishad constituency, as the party overwhelmingly defeated its rivals across Gram Panchayats in the Bordumsa block of Changlang district in eastern Arunachal Pradesh.

The results of the Gram Panchayat (GP) Chairperson elections were formally declared on Friday at the Panchayat Hall, ADCโ€™s Office, Bordumsa.

Out of the 23 Gram Panchayats under Bordumsa Block, NCP(A) secured a commanding majority, reaffirming its strong grassroots presence.

The BJP managed to win only three GP Chairperson posts, while one seat went to an Independent candidate.

Adding to the partyโ€™s emphatic performance, Moulin Agan of NCP(A) emerged victorious as the Zilla Parishad Member (ZPM) from Bordumsa, defeating his BJP rival by a comfortable margin.

His win is being widely seen as a decisive political statement and a clear endorsement of his leadership and connection with local communities.

In another key result, Chow Sachey Chiring of NCP(A) was elected as ZPM from Diyun, which also forms part of the Bordumsa constituency, further strengthening the partyโ€™s hold over the area.

Politically, NCP(A) in Arunachal Pradesh is aligned with the ruling BJP government, with its MLAs supporting the BJP-led administration. However, the Bordumsa results clearly indicate that local electoral dynamics and grassroots preferences played a decisive role, independent of state-level alliances.

The BJP had mounted an aggressive, high-voltage campaign to win the Bordumsa ZPM seat, deploying its full political machinery.

Senior BJP leaders, including Namsai MLA Chow Zingnu, former Independent legislator Somlung Mossang, and other top party functionaries, actively campaigned to secure a BJP victory.

Despite these efforts, the electorate delivered a clear mandate in favor of NCP(A). Even a strong public appeal from the State Chief Minister urging voters to choose a BJP-backed ZPM failed to influence the results, highlighting the votersโ€™ independent political choice and preference for local leadership.

NCP(A)โ€™s growing influence is also evident in the neighbouring Lekang constituency in Namsai district, where under the leadership of NCP MLA Likha Soni, the party won one of the two ZPM seats, signalling its expanding reach beyond Changlang district.

Among the GP Chairperson results, Jawkim Gam Singpho (NCP(A)), Roshmi Mura (NCP(A), Women Reserved), and Rutli Longkho (BJP) were elected from Mohong Mura Gram Panchayat.

BJP candidates also won in Kumung Pathar and Dapkhu, while Nolin Bo, contesting as an Independent, emerged victorious from Wagung Ponthai under the women-reserved category.

A notable highlight of the election was the strong representation of women leaders, with several women elected as GP Chairpersons from reserved constituencies, reflecting growing female participation in local governance.

Reacting to his victory, Agan lauded the peopleโ€™s mandate and thanked the electorate for their support.

He also acknowledged the decisive role played by the incumbent NCP legislator from 49 Bordumsaโ€“Diyun, Nikh Kamin, expressing gratitude for his strategic guidance, unwavering support, and active counselling, which Agan described as instrumental in securing the resounding victory.

Election officials confirmed that the polling and counting processes were conducted peacefully and transparently.

The results were officially certified by the Presiding Officer for the elections of Chairpersons of all Gram Panchayats under 14/1 Bordumsa.

Political observers say the outcome marks a clear consolidation of NCP(A)โ€™s influence across Bordumsa, Diyun, and adjoining constituencies, reinforcing the fact that grassroots mandates in eastern Arunachal Pradesh continue to be shaped by local leadership, credibility, and voter determination.
