Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Chowna Mein on Wednesday presided over a joint meeting of the district planning board and district level committee.

The meeting was held with an objective of chalking out a holistic action plan for the districts in all sectors on Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakaram.

Legislators Chau Zingnu Namchoom and Jummum Ete Deori, Namsai deputy commissioner Dr Tapasya Raghav, DIG (Eastern Zone) T Ringu, SP Ankit Singh and HoDs of various departments were present in the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Mein said that there have been lots of reforms in the country after Prime Minister Narendra Modi formed the government at the Centre.

“In the same line, we also like to bring same kind of reforms and changes in the State. We have to give all out effort to bring desirable changes in the State and the way the government functions,” Mein said.

He added, “We have constituted the Staff Selection Committee and made mandatory the appointment of JEs, JTs and recruitment of all Group A and B officers to be made through Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission for transparency and for enabling the deserving candidates get selected as per merit.”

Further while stating that it is the age of competition and nothing can be achieved without hard work, he added, “We must inculcate a sense of competition among the young generations.”

The deputy chief minister also informed that though the State government has decided to do away with SIDF and SADA, there will, however, be an annual operating plan made by the departments.

For this, he asked the departments to prepare a short term (annual) and long term (five year) perspective development plans.

Further to initiate the development process from the grass roots level and for equitable development, the respective deputy commissioners were asked to finalize the schemes in consultations with the public representatives in the districts and forward the schemes to the State government in priority.

Mein also called upon the government officers and officials to perform their duties sincerely.

The heads of various departments presented reports on the progress of the works under Central and State flagship programmes and highlighted proposals for the 2019-20 annual plans during the meeting.
