While a bacterial infection is suspected as a possible culprit, Dr. Sorang Tadap, a wildlife veterinarian, cautioned against jumping to conclusions.
“It appears to be a bacterial infection, but we must await the findings of fisheries experts before making a definitive diagnosis,” Dr. Tadap said.
The incident has caused widespread fear and uncertainty among local residents, who are now hesitant to consume fish from the river.
