The Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) on Monday paid rich tributes to Lummer Dai, the doyen of Arunachalee literature, on his 81st birth anniversary.
Born in Siluk village under Mebo circle of East Siang district, Lummer Dai was one of the pioneers in spreading education in the state.

Being amongst the first generation of educated people in the state, Dai has several literary achievements to his credit.
The anniversary celebrations held at Naharlagun also saw APLS president Y D Thongchi announce the winners of the prestigious Luminous Lummer Dai Award 2020.
The awards will be conferred to Chandra Borpatra Gohain and RN Koley for their contributions in the field of literature in the state.

Gohain, a retired APCS officer, has written many short stories on the lives of several tribes living in the interior villages of the state.
Koley has been contributing immensely in enriching Arunachal literature by editing various literary magazines including souvenirs of festivals, socio-anthropological books, short stories, novels and poems.
Koley is also an active member of the APLS.
The award consists of a citation, a plaque and cash amount of Rs 10,000.
The award will be presented to the duo on the foundation day celebrations on of APLS on December 6.
Lummer Dai’s birth anniversary was also celebrated at Siluk village where the members of Silukian Welfare Kebang, Swachh Siluk Abhiyaan and Siluk Dolung Yameng Kebang paid floral tributes to the late luminary.
The Asom Sahitya Sabha celebrated the birth anniversary of late Dai in Assam by lighting lamps in every branch office of the Sabha.
The Assam Pensioners Association, Guwahati also celebrated the day by paying floral tributes to the portrait of the late author.
