In a bid to help the youths and students assisting the medical team and police at the Yomcha check gate in Arunachal Pradesh take proper rest, the locals of the nearby villages have started to build huts for them.

Yomcha, a sub-division in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district is around 150 km from Itanagar.

“These youths and students have been assisting the medical team and police since March. They have been actively monitoring the unnecessary movement of people through the check gate and have stayed away from their families spending nights in temporary sheds,” one of the locals said.

The youths have been carrying out the voluntary work ever since the first nationwide lockdown was imposed in March braving all kinds of difficulties.

In order to give them some comfort, the villagers of Yomcha led by additional deputy commissioner Hento Karga have started to construct the huts on self-help basis, the local added.

Moved by the effort of the villagers, one Tugo Gangkak, the owner Sirurijo Tea Estate on Tuesday donated a sum of Rs 10,000 for the construction work.
