Lhunpo , a picturesque village located in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh has remained tobacco free for the last 35 years.

The village which is also India’s last village towards Tibet is also a wonderful and clean village abounded with a rich natural beauty.

Moreover, Tawang district has been awarded the cleanest district in the entire northeast by Swachh Survekshan Gramin Gramin (SSG) in October last year.

Tawang district was also the first district of Arunachal Pradesh to be made open defecation free during September 2017.

The smallest district of the state with a population of around 50000 people, it is also the eight least populous district of India.

Tawang monastery is the largest monastery in India and the second largest in the world.

The Sela pass, located at an altitude of 13700 feet from sea level is located on the Bomdila Tawang road and mostly remains snow-covered.
