Arunachal Pradesh governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra on Tuesday reviewed the internal and external security preparedness of the state with chief minister Pema Khandu and Air Marshal Amit Dev, the air officer commanding-in-chief of the Indian Air Force’s eastern air command at Raj Bhawan in Itanagar.
The governor emphasized that along with its air prowess, the Indian Air Force (IAF) must instil a sense of security and bonhomie amongst the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

“IAF must continue their compassionate flights to ensure that the local population receives basic commodities of rations at the right time where air supply is the only method for their sustenance,” the governor said.
Mishra suggested that the matter of the outstanding bills of IAF against Arunachal government must be resolved at the earliest keeping in view the helicopter flying rate’s modulation and humanitarian causes for such helicopter flights.
The governor also called for activating the advance landing grounds (ALG) for civilian purposes in addition to national security.

These ALGs have been very useful, especially at the times of medical emergencies, he said.
Mishra further commended the eastern air command (EAC) for conducting several numbers of many humanitarian flights and rescuing men and materials during natural calamities.
He expressed his hope that EAC will maintain these good services and sort out any bottleneck in its implementation.
Chief minister Khandu who recently visited several remote villages along the Indo-Tibetan border, shared his observations during the meeting.
He sought the humanitarian assistance of IAF for the border villages at times of emergencies and during beyond human control disasters.
Earlier Air Marshal Dev briefed the governor and chief minister on the IAF’s preparedness in the northeastern region and several other humanitarian and operational initiatives, which he is planning to implement.
